The Sacred Monkey Forest

This misty sanctuary of some 700-plus long-tailed cheeky monkeys is on the bucket list of many families visiting Bali. The 12-hectare lush jungles surround three sacred Temples dedicated to Hindu Gods. Dating to the 14th century the presence of these temples makes this sanctuary a significant link to the spiritual and cultural heritage of Bali. As you approach the entrance admire the intricate carvings and intriguing stone statues. Kids love to observe the monkeys roaming freely among the ruins of the temples and on the magnificent ancient trees, swinging from branches and solemnly grooming one another without being affected by the keen observers.

The entire sanctuary provides a thriving habitat for these enigmatic primates and a wonderful day out for visitors. Getting to the sanctuary is a forty-minute drive from properties like Anantara Ubud Bali Resort. If travelling with family, opt for luxury suites in Bali for a memorable stay.
