The Decolonisation of African Spirituality is an enlightening topic about the direction one can take in the pursuit of consciousness, a feeling of peace and harmony in the presence of freedom from Western Religion and Customs.

This is a tiktok video of Bishop Joshua Maponga who speaks on Decolonisation in Africa and in this video he basically encompasses the ideology itself and describes what decolonisation means and sheds light on how we have been led astray from ourselves as Africans

The essence of The Decolonisation of Africa and African Spirituality is synonymous to what was Steve Biko Philosophising about when he spoke of freeing our people mentally. Spiritually, the idea is to reprogram and bring people back to their roots and sense of self. The spirits of many black homes are shattered, there are no present fathers to teach their sons what it to be an African Man. The Women no longer empower little black girls to love their Afro and the colour of their own skin.

Colonisation Demonised African Spirituality, Africans do not worship ancestors but instead they respect those have walked the path before them. African philosophy highlights that as a people we don’t believe in the civilisation of tools but of people and those that came before us made sure they make the world a better place for the future generations. Not by the innovation of materials but through the innovation and advancement of societies and people.
