Merlion Park Singapore

Merlion is the iconic symbol of the state. Singapore is known as the Lion City. Singapore has been derived from Singa which comes from Simha meaning lion and pore comes from pura meaning city. Both words are from Sanskrit. Merlion is a mythical creature created with a lion crest and the body of a fish. The lion head represents Singapore, and the fishtail represents the fact Singapore was a fishing village.

Chijmes has been a catholic convent since 1852, which has been repurposed into a Dining and Entertainment precinct. Situated on Victoria Street in downtown Singapore the precinct has been restored to its ancient architectural glory showcasing the spectacular exterior it had in the past.

The interior has been repurposed enriching the precinct. Old classrooms and school halls have been carefully transformed into trendy cafes, themed eating venues, retail outlets and hip bars with ample indoor space for special events like weddings while the courtyard is used for musical and theatrical performances drawing large crowds. For visitors, this lovely complex is a gem to be admired and a pleasing venue to experience the cuisine of Singapore.

Gardens by the Bay (GBTB)

Spread over 250 acres of waterfront land near Marina Bay, the Gardens by the Bay is a marvellous combination of horticultural wonder, garden artistry and conservation efforts which are simply amazing.

The three outstanding glass conservatories are home to more than a million plants. The largest one called Floral Dome is the largest such conservatory in the world and a spectacular beauty offering a multi-sensorial treat. The second called Floral Fantasy another beautiful vista of plants and blooms. The third one is Cloud Forest showcasing the world’s largest indoor waterfall.

The supertrees, all 18 of them are tall and outstanding, some as high as 50 m. They have all the functions of a real tree and serve as solar energy harvesting units. Apart from admiring the beauty that you witness around, stay on for the evening light and sound show at the supertree grove a treat many visitors stay on to enjoy. ArtScience Museum

Shaped like a lotus flower, this is a modern-day museum with several attractions and features that entice visitors. Situated close to Marina Bay Sands, it is a tall structure rising to 197 feet and each petal of the lotus has a dedicated gallery space or exhibition area.

Designed by world-famous architect Moshe Safdie, the museum has a Permanent Exhibition that attracts visitors themed Future World – Where Arts meets Science which is updated regularly. This exhibition brings together not only Arts and Science but also magic using state-of-the-art digital features. A venue loved by families with children.

Singapore Flyer

A magnificent observation wheel at 165 m above ground level and Asia’s largest such observation wheel. 28 glass air-conditioned capsules rotate along taking 30 minutes for a complete rotation. Situated on Raffles Avenue in the heart of Singapore, a ride on this is a memorable experience.
