How to Plan the Perfect 72-Hour Trip in Phuket: A Complete Itinerary- Experience Thailand’s largest island in 3 days!

Phuket is Thailand’s largest island. It’s a tropical paradise known for its enchanting beaches, nightlife, culture and fun activities. If you’re in Thailand and want to explore Phuket for a few days, planning a short trip can be tough. However, with an itinerary, you can enjoy the best that Phuket has to offer in just 72 hours. Here’s a guide to covering Phuket in three days:

1

Day 1: Patong Beach

Morning: When you arrive in Phuket, check into your hotel and freshen up. You can go to the beach immediately if you’re not too tired. Head to Patong Beach - it’s the perfect spot to relax, with its soft white sand and blue water. You can go swimming if you’re up for it, or just sunbathe. If you prefer something more adventurous, try parasailing. For lunch, head to a café or beachfront restaurant to taste some great Thai cuisine such as seafood, Pad Thai or Khao Pad (fried rice) .

2

Bangla Road

Evening: Walk to Bangla Road as darkness falls. Famous among tourists and locals for its bustling nightlife, you’ll find many bars and clubs here. There are also some eye-catching street performances. For dinner, check out the restaurants offering both Thai and international cuisine.

Day 2: Phi Phi islands

Morning: Start your second day on an adventurous note, by booking a day trip to the Phi Phi Islands - a must-visit. You’ll have a chance to enjoy activities like snorkelling and exploring famous sites like Maya Bay and Viking Cave. The waters around these islands are ideal for swimming, and there’ll be opportunities to view the marine life and nearby attractions.

Most Phi Phi Island tours include lunch on one of the islands. You can enjoy a delicious meal while taking in the beautiful views. Continue exploring the islands afterwards, and head to places like Monkey Beach or Bamboo Island.

4

Old Phuket Town

Evening: Return to your hotel in Phuket where you can relax until dinner. Once evening falls, explore Old Phuket Town. This area is known for its iconic Sino-Portuguese architecture and old-world charm. Go for a meal at one of the local restaurants, and try more traditional Thai dishes. If you happen to be there on a Sunday, don’t miss the Sunday Walking Street Market. Here, you can try out local snacks, shop for souvenirs, and watch live entertainment.

Find accommodation at a Phuket town hotel within walking distance of major attractions, such as NH Boat Lagoon Phuket Resort.

5

Day 3: Wat Chalong and Elephant Sanctuary

Morning: Explore the culture and history of Phuket on your last day. First visit Nakkerd Hill to see the 45-metre-tall Big Buddha statue located on its summit. This area also offers great views of the island and is a great spot to capture some beautiful photos. Head over to Wat Chalong next - the largest and best-known Buddhist temple in Phuket. You can also learn a bit about Thai Buddhism here.

Once you finish exploring these cultural sites, consider visiting an elephant sanctuary. This is a great way to see and interact with these majestic animals. You can take part in activities like feeding them or watching them bathe. For lunch, try out more Thai delicacies. Massaman curry is a top choice as well as Tom Yum (spicy shrimp soup) if you’re feeling adventurous.

6

Promthep Cape

Evening: One of the best ways to end a trip to Phuket is by visiting Promthep Cape. This is mostly due to it being a great spot to watch the sun set! The cliffs and views of the ocean views will help you create wonderful memories. Have dinner at a local restaurant overlooking the Andaman Sea. Take a walk along the beach or head back to your hotel afterwards.
