While extremely agreeable year-round sunshine often characterises the likes of Koh Phi Phi, as with most tropical destinations, the Thai islands are also not without their share of rain, with frequent and sometimes heavy rainfall occurring from May through October. It is only logical that many tourists choose to avoid visiting during this time of the year, but the islands’ wet season also has its own unique set of appeals that may entice the sporadic traveller — attractively low prices and fewer tourists being the most influential. While it stands to reason to avail yourself of the same, it is advisable to ponder taking your chances with tropical rain, especially if it’s your first time visiting the islands.
