Nizwa Souq

Allow your senses to run riot through the labyrinth of stalls that comprise the bustling Nizwa Souq which is one of the most loved attractions in all of Nizwa. Be greeted by pungent aromas of fresh produce, spices and the distinct scent of Omani frankincense as part of an insightful and engaging encounter with one of Oman’s priceless possessions. Although you will need to bring along your best haggling skills in order to obtain a favourable deal for yourself, never shy away from striking up a conversation with local tradesmen. However, be sure to call by the many artisans showing off their skills as they craft out intricate silver jewellery and pottery studded in marvellous detail.

Nizwa Fort

Step back into a time where battle lines were drawn and strategic acumen was put to excellent use within the historic setting of the Nizwa Fort. Having seen the light of day during the 17th century, this stronghold is a national icon and comes off as one of the best things to do in Oman where visitors can take pleasure of its stunning architecture that has remained intact with the passing of time. Stroll through its numerous rooms and corridors where exhibits successfully reimagine life as it was during the glory days. Further, be mindful to ascend to the top of its central tower from where views of Nizwa and rugged mountains can be delighted in.

Bahla Fort

Found a 30-minute drive away from Nizwa, the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Bahla Fort will be the ideal expedition for those wanting to get acquainted with the sheer craftsmanship of the people of Oman. Replete with large courtyards and hidden chambers to explore, patrons like yourself will experience history echoing across its walls and rounded towers, the farther you venture. Open daily from 9 am to 4 pm, an entrance fee of 1 OMR will have to paid before you will be permitted to enter.

Al Hamra

Come into contact with the traditional ways of the Omani when you take time to cover the entirety of the mud village known as Al Hamra. Made up of winding streets and mudbrick dwellings, Al Hamra is where the beauty of nature and the annals of history meet to afford the curious adventurer with a pleasing escape to appreciate. Invest time covering every nook and cranny there it to the village and never fail to enter the Bait Al Safah Museum where live demonstrations of the local culture are showcased for one spellbinding spectacle.

Sayq Viewpoint

Found some 500 meters from Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar Resort, travellers arriving at this vantage point will be treated to scenes of rocky canyons, terraced fields and villages.
