Whether one is based at Anantara Kalutara Resort or any of the other beach hotels in Kalutara or whether one is a day tripper from Colombo, spending time at this golden sanded strip is a must. Boasting some of the bluest waters on the coast, Kalutara Beach is where the Kalu River flows into the ocean. As one of Sri Lanka's premier daytrip hubs, Beruwala is a bright and sun-kissed haven for most months of the year. Home to countless hotels, spas and water sports centres, Beruwala Beach is a hotbed of activity even during the off-peak season.
Located within close range of Beruwala Beach is the equally renowned Bentota Beach. Considered the preferred beach holiday destination among families based in the island's capital, Bentota Beach boasts calmer waters and smaller waves. There are entire stretches of the beach encircled by reefs and pebbled beachfront instead of powdery sands.
