In this special one hour episode of Palestine Studies TV host Clea Thouin sits down with Remi Brulin, Research Fellow and Adjunct Associate Professor at New York University, for an in depth discussion on the many different concepts and definitions of terrorism, the history and use of the term over the last four decades in international politics, as well as how these concepts and definitions have been used by all sides in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
This week we highlight various NEWTON texts relevant to the study of Palestine-Israel. The authors of these texts write from a wide range of perspectives, disciplinary approaches, and political frameworks. We encourage you to integrate these texts into your curricula in the coming semesters.
In this fascinating lecture, Columbia Professor Joseph Massad unravels the obfuscatory language of "peace" the Zionist movement and Israel have always used to mask their aggressive and colonial intentions towards Palestine. Massad's lecture, entitled " Peace Is War: Negotiations, Israeli Settler Colonialism, and the Palestinians," was given at Austin Community College in Austin, Texas on 23 October.
Fully engaged in U.S.-sponsored peace talks with Israel, the Palestinians have sidelined alternative strategies to achieve their rights, including their right to self-determination. As U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry has recently affirmed, Palestinian negotiators have pledged not to contest the Israeli occupation through the United Nations during the period of negotiations.

Tuesday, 26 November 2013 14:32 Palestinian lawyer Fahmi Shabaneh has charged that Palestinian Authority and Fatah leaders are complicit in the killing of former Palestinian President Yasser Arafat. Shabaneh, who is a former senior official in the PA's intelligence services, is accusing both PA President Mahmoud Abbas and former senior Fatah leader Mohamed Dahlan of being involved in the poisoning of Arafat.
