Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic

No trip to Kandy will be complete without calling by the sacred shrine of the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic which is also referred to by the name of the ‘Sri Dalada Maligawa.’ This UNESCO World Heritage Site which saw the light of day in 1592 is located within the premises of the former royal palace complex and is known for its daily rituals and stunning architecture. However, pride of place is given to the room that contains the golden casket where the sacred tooth relic of the Buddha is kept. Kandy Lake

Facing the Sri Dalada Maligawa is the man-made lake called the Kandy Lake. Built in the year 1807 by Sri Lanka’s last king, Sri Wickrama Rajasingha, this waterbody is as serene an attraction that you can experience when in this part of Sri Lanka. Found in close proximity to Hunas Falls Hotel Kandy which is a luxury hotel in Kandy, the Kandy Lake which was once a former rice field affords a chance to go on an evening stroll under the shade of towering trees.

Royal Botanic Gardens in Peradeniya

Encounter a vivid world of plant life at none other than the glorious Royal Botanic Gardens in Peradeniya.
