Although most globetrotters head to the desert city to enjoy its retail outlets and manmade islands, Dubai is an equally viable holiday hub for beach lovers. From scenic city beaches to hidden gems only known to the local populace, here's a rundown of some of the city state's top beaches.
Easily accessible to those based at a Dubai city hotel the likes of Avani Ibn Battuta Hotel and countless others, JBR Beach is undoubtedly the most conveniently located beach in the town. Just a stone's throw from some of Dubai's top tourist landmarks including the Dubai Marina Mall as well as the Marina, the beach is also just minutes away from the DMCC Metro Station. While it may be one of Dubai's busiest beaches, those who head out to this little piece of paradise in the early morning hours can enjoy this area in peace. Ideal for families with children, JBR Beach also boasts playgrounds and an inflatable obstacle course.
Kite Beach lives up to its name, being widely regarded as the premier destination for kite surfing enthusiasts. Featuring its own kite surfing school, it offers an ideal setting for beginners looking to delve into this adventurous sport. Even those not keen on water sports can enjoy Kite Beach, as it boasts numerous fast food chain options along its waterfront. With its vibrant atmosphere and stunning views of the coastline, Kite Beach is also a popular spot for leisurely strolls and picnics, attracting locals and tourists alike.
Regarded as Dubai's premier beach park, Al Mamzar Beach Park stands out among the city's coastal destinations due to its diverse range of amenities tailored for families and large travel groups. Offering barbecue pits, volleyball courts, running tracks, and various water sports facilities, it caters to a wide range of recreational interests. Lifeguards patrol the beach throughout the day, and beach cabins are available for day trippers seeking accommodation. It's worth noting that Mondays and Wednesdays are designated Ladies' Days, restricting entry to only women and children under 4 years old.
As one of Dubai's popular manmade beaches, Jumeirah Beach is another accessible beach hotspot for active visitors. Equipped with banana boats and jet skis, this stunning seaside located south of Dubai's downtown area is also ideal for children and those who are not excellent swimmers. The calm waters are not the only attribute that locals and tourists appreciate about Jumeirah Beach as it is also surrounded by excellent cafes and restaurants.
As one of Dubai's secret beaches, Al Sufouh Black Palace Beach is not often listed in most travelogues and blogs counting down the city's finest beaches. Also called Palace Beach and Secret Beach, this pristine stretch of coastline is accessible via a narrow pathway that is nestled between two grounds belonging to a local palace. Accessible free of charge, Al Sufouh Black Palace Beach is known for its soft sands and secluded location. There are no snack vendors or cafes nearby so visitors must bring their own refreshments.
