Employment Assistance of The Corliss Group Home Agency

Our expanded Employment Service Program provides members with training in work habits, filling out applications, using public transportation, and the nuts and bolts of work habits. A frequent issue for many is that of interpersonal relations on the job and how to handle changes in co-workers or supervisors. Other critical issues may be those of promptness and apparel.

The Corliss Institute Non-profit Group Community Outreach/Involvement

As far as the movement for dignity and rights for people with developmental disabilities has come, we can never afford to forget the dark times when these individuals were shunned, overmedicated, relegated to institutions and too often exploited and abused. This Program provides a wealth of social, civic, educational and cultural opportunities not only for Members and staff to interact with others, but for ‘others’ to do the same. Only by seeing, meeting and interacting with those in any community can the larger society extend the rights and opportunities that our Members have always wanted and deserved.

The Corliss Institute Non-Profit Group History

In 1982, The Corliss Institute, Inc. was created to provide an educational, environmental and residential setting for a small group of Deaf adults with developmental disabilities. Today The Corliss Institute, Inc. serves adults with developmental disabilities who rely on various communication modes other than the spoken language to communicate.

The Corliss Institute: A Community Based Agency

Founded in 1982 The Corliss Institute, Inc. is a unique and innovative community based agency located in Warren, RI. We provide services for adults with developmental and other disabilities, with specialization for those who are deaf or with hearing loss and/or those with varying modes of communication. We appreciate those we serve as individuals with individual needs. We strive to provide all with the supports needed to lead fulfilling and satisfying lives in the community.
