The Collated Screw Gun is a necessity when fixing interior linings like dry wall, plaster board or ply. It drives the screws in perfectly and cuts down the time it takes to screw off your sheet by easily 500%.

#4 Line Laser Level

#4 Line Laser Level

A laser level gives you the ability level an entire floor or ceiling from one spot. This is a far more accurate way to get your entire floor/ceiling at the exact same height than if you were to use a traditional spirit level. It also cuts the time right down.

#3 Chalk Line

#3 Chalk Line

Need to draw a long straight line? There's no easier way using a chalk line. Simply mark both ends, hook your chalk line over your first mark, spool it out and hold the string tight to your second mark, then ping the line. This will leave a perfect straight line between your two marks.
The chalk comes in a variety of colors and permanence.
As a builder in Warkworth, My chalk line lives in my tool belt because it always comes in handy.

#2 Track Saw

#2 Track Saw

If you're not using a skill saw every day, it can be hard to get the knack of cutting straight lines down to a fine art. Fortunately, there is a very good alternative tool called a track saw or rail saw. It is a plunging circular saw that runs on a guide rail. Simply set your guide rail up to where you need it, place your saw on the rail, plunge the saw and cut your perfectly straight line.
This tool is especially handy when you are cutting sheet materials such as ply wood.

#1 Oscillating Multi Tool

#1 Oscillating Multi Tool

Number one on my list is the ever versatile oscillating multi tool. This thing can do anything from cut nails from behind weather boards, to sanding corners that you can't reach with your orbital sander. It has a ton of different blades that you can fit on it in different directions, which means you can get into tight and awkward spots with ease.
As a builder who specializes in renovations, I never step foot on a job site with out one.
