Take in the Sultan Qaboos Mosque

Considered to be iconic of Salalah,  the beautiful Sultan Qaboos Mosque is nestled in the very heart of the city and stands as a testament to the stunning intricacy of Islamic design. Its opulent prayer hall, in particular, is a sight to behold with its intricate wall patterns, ornate chandeliers, and plush green carpeting – effortlessly encapsulating the essence of  Islamic aesthetics.

Visit the Frankincense Land Museum

Curious about where frankincense – an aromatic resin used in our perfumes and incense comes from? Then consider paying a visit to the Frankincense Land Museum located in Salalah’s Al Baleed Archaeological Park. Here visitors will be able to enjoy an educational experience and discover Oman’s rich frankincense history.  The museum can be easily reached from many a Salalah resort in Oman such as the likes of the Al Baleed Resort Salalah.

Shop at the Al Husn Souq

No visit to Oman is complete without taking the time – preferably a full day to shop at one of its many Souqs.  The Al Husn Souq is located right next to the Sulan’s Palace and has everything from shoes, perfumes, souvenirs, spices, and clothes on offer. Don’t forget to bargain and sample delicious Omani food items.

Enjoy a picnic at Wadi Darbat

A splendidly lush green valley with a beautiful river flowing through it, Wadi Darbat is a fantastic place to enjoy a picnic under the powder blue skies with family or friends.  The best time to visit Wadi Darbat is during monsoon season -Khareef as it’s the time when the valley is at its most verdant.  For those not keen on having a picnic, there are plenty of kiosks, stalls and restaurants selling delicious food to indulge in.

Relax at Mugsail Beach

Just 39 km from the city center of Salalah, Mugsail Beach is one of Oman’s top attractions. Offering beautiful views of clear blue water flanked by majestic cliffs and white sand, Mugsail Beach is ideal for enjoying a refreshing swim, long lazy sessions of sunbathing - or if you are visiting with a crowd in tow,  a fun BBQ lunch at any one of the traditional huts available on the beach free of charge.

Explore Taqah Castle

Considered to be one of Oman’s beloved architectural gems, Taqah Castle is located in a quaint little fishing village renowned for its pristine white-sand beaches. Built-in the early 19th century, Taqah Castle is well-preserved and offers insight into the daily lives of the era. The castle is open to visitors from Thursday to Saturday from 9 am to 4 pm. Entry for adults is 500 baizas.
