Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque

Covering a colossal 416,000 square metres is the largest mosque in the entirety of the Sultanate – the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque which can accommodate well over 20,000 worshippers at a time. Studded in the architectural styles of the Middle East, Oman and that of the Islamic faith, this place of worship is a mere 2 km from the city centre and is one of the few mosques which permits non-Muslims to enter.

Mutrah Corniche

Stretching out for 3 km along the waterfront is the glorious Mutrah Corniche which features a good mix of cafes, restaurants and markets to check out for those based at Oman Hotels. As one of the most cherished Oman tourist places to spend time at, the Corniche is an excellent vantage point to catch a glimpse of the Oman Port and harbour on one side coupled by the stunning Hajar Mountains and Portuguese watchtowers on the other.

Al Mirani Fort

Having once been entrusted with guarding the port of Muscat in times long gone, Al Mirani Fort was the brainchild of the Portuguese during the 16th century. This stronghold displays a host of ancient war tools and played a pivotal role in driving out the Portuguese.
