Discover 7 Best Hidden Beaches in Phuket: Beyond the Resort's Shores - Top 7 Secret Beaches to Explore during a Trip to

As one of Thailand's top beach holiday hotspots, Phuket is home to some of the country's finest beaches. While one is likely to find an array of enchanting and popular beaches close to one's resort, here are some lesser-known beach hubs every traveller should explore.

1

Ao Yon Beach

Nestled among Phuket's most picturesque beaches, this breathtaking stretch of sand remains surprisingly undiscovered by the masses of travellers. Adjacent to a quaint fishing village bustling with oyster farming activities, this south-facing paradise can get quite lively on weekends with local visitors. However, on weekdays, it transforms into a tranquil retreat. Tourists can access the beach by parking along the hillside road and taking a leisurely stroll down to Ao Yon Beach.

2

Ao Sane Beach

The best time to visit Ao Sane Beach is during the lazy afternoons when the shade provided by its almond trees offers the perfect location from which to witness the sunset. Home to not one but three smaller beaches, Ao Sane Beach is also ideal for snorkelling activities. With massive granite boulders also littering the landscape, the dramatic backdrop makes the venue ideal for couples. Avoid visiting Ao Sane Beach from November to May as this is when the area is used to moor yachts.

3

Nui Beach

Arguably the most beautiful beach among Phuket's secret beaches, Nui Beach stretches on for 120m and is ideal for a wide range of activities including fishing and snorkelling. Those with a passion for kayaking will also find the coastline perfect for this activity while the only bar and restaurant on the beach also offers spectacular sunset views. The on-site spa also boasts sauna facilities and Thai massage sessions for tourists with aching feet.

4

Khao Kad Beach

Also called Panwa Beach, Khao Kad Beach is an idyllic beachfront that's accessible to travellers based at SAii Laguna Phuket or any other Bangtao beach resort. Just 8km away from Phuket Town and covering the western shoreline of Cape Panwa, the shallow beach is suitable for families with small children. With panoramic views of Lone Island and Chalong Bay, it is a peaceful beachfront for those looking to truly get away from it all.

5

Banana Beach

Occupying pride of place in Thalang, Banana Beach has earned its name due to the crescent shape of its beachfront. Although one must trek downhill through a tropical wood to reach the location, it is a romantic and secluded beach that's both calm and excellent for snorkelling activities. It is best to avoid Banana Beach between May and November as swimming and snorkelling are not safe during this period due to high tides.

6

Freedom Beach

A haven for snorkelers, Freedom Beach is accessible primarily by long-tail boat from the southern shores of Patong. It's open to travellers exclusively during the official tourist season. Here, both novice and experienced snorkelers can put their skills to the test amid its inviting waters.

7

Yae Beach

Although the beach has its own bar, bathroom facilities and sun loungers, Yae Beach is a 200-metre-long stretch of sand that's largely secluded on most days. Only 7 km from Patong, the beach is not suitable for swimming but rather for romantic strolls and spending quality time by the sea.
