5 Best Spots to Enjoy the Sunset During Your Getaway in Krabi - A Sunset Lover’s Paradise

Thailand is a beautiful country and Krabi offers some of the best sunset views in southern Thailand. Any person who loves watching a sunset will be thrilled by this list of top scenic sunset spots in Krabi!

1

Ao Nang Beach

Ao Nang Beach is a prime spot for all sunset catchers! This spot offers the ideal exotic getaway with its soft white sand beach fringed with palm trees. If you want the best seat in the house, choose to stay at a hotel near Ao Nang Beach, such as the lavish Avani Ao Nang Cliff Krabi Resort, which offers great spots to enjoy your favourite beverages and watch the sunset!

2

The Thung Teao Forest Natural Park

While Krabi is well known for its beaches, one of its best-hidden secrets is the sunset spot by the Emerald Pool at the Thung Teao Forest Natural Park located in the Phrao Pra Bang Kram area. The Emerald Pool is a crystal pond nestled away within the tropical rainforest and visitors can go for a swim in its warm waters. Wildlife lovers would also enjoy visiting the Natural Park as it is home to rare flora and fauna, including the Pitta Gurney bird that was once thought to be extinct. It also offers a 2.7-kilometre nature trail that even takes you past a waterfall. If you plan to visit the Natural Park, do not forget to take your mosquito spray!

Wat Tham Sua

Also known as the Tiger Cave Temple, Wat Tham Sua is located close to the town of Krabi. This temple is popular due to its unique location and structure. The temple is located in limestone caves that have formed at the foot of a towering limestone cliff. The temple caves are adorned with beautiful carvings and there is also a ‘footprint’ in the limestone of the terrace known as ‘the Buddha’s footprint’. This may not be suitable for everyone especially as the heat and humidity can take a toll during the hour-long climb. However, those who manage to make it to the top will be rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views covering the Andaman Sea, lush rainforests, and limestone cliffs. The best time for visiting this temple would be at sunset and sunrise.

4

Maya Bay

Maya Bay may be familiar to some visitors as the 1999 movie ‘The Beach’ starring Leonardo DiCaprio was filmed there. The bay can be accessed by longtail boats or speedboats and some ferry boats also make a stop here. The best time to visit would be during the high season which falls between November and April as the bay is easily accessible due to calmer waters. To beat the crowd, it is recommended that you visit in the morning or after 5 pm so you get a chance to take in the beauty of the area without being jostled by other tourists while also watching a surreal sunset at the bay.

5

Koh Hong

If you are looking for a quieter place to watch the sunset at, Koh Hong is the island for you. Photographers will enjoy the scenic beauty of Koh Hong’s rock formations and its glittering natural lagoon. This is not a very popular location so it does not get very crowded but it is included in several Krabi tour packages as a lunch stop.
