5 Most stunning beaches in Phuket – For beach bums and plenty of fun under the sun

The thought of a beach holiday in lovely Phuket will give you ample reason to pack your best swimwear, choose your surfboard and head out for one captivating escape, hand in hand with that special someone.

1

Patong Beach

Running a length of 2.5 km is one of the busiest and best beaches in all of Phuket that will reward you with a wide selection of leisure thrills and spills. Known as Patong Beach, this stretch of coastline showcases a lively atmosphere and come evening, you can hit the local town to dine at a restaurant or open up a few cold ones within the four walls of a quirky Irish pub or raucous Aussie bar. However, for those passionate about the outdoors and seeking to spend as much time out on the beach and in the ocean, water sports in the likes of jet skiing, parasailing or even banana boating can be tried out.

2

Freedom Beach

Comprising white powdery sands that mingle with turquoise seas and a palm tree-fringed coastline which is the entry point to dense jungle and mountains, Phuket’s Freedom Beach stays true to its name in every sense of the phrase. The holidaymaker will encounter plenty of value in terms of activities which range from basking on a carefully selected spot on the beach to donning your snorkelling fins and exploring the mesmeric marine life which inhabit the shallow waters off Freedom Beach. Further, you can also devote time towards finetuning your beach volleyball or beach football skills with family or friends.

3

Mai Khao Beach

Regarded as the longest beach in Phuket (11 km), Mai Khao Beach which is in close proximity to the Phuket luxury resort such as the famous Anantara Mai Khao Phuket Villas commences at Sirinat National Park and concludes at Sai Keow Beach. The natural beauty and allure of Mai Khao Beach is the primary reason for visiting this section of Phuket where you will have more than one reason to while away the hours in the cool of the sea or on the warm and welcoming sand. Although, you will find it almost impossible to look away from Mai Khao Beach for most parts, a highlight of being here is the thrill of capturing planes making their descent over the area given that Phuket International Airport is nestled a short distance away.

4

Karon Beach

Found overlooking the Andaman Sea is the 3.3 km long Karon Beach which is best visited during the high season which extends from November to April. What makes Karon Beach a noteworthy inclusion in your travel itinerary is the fact that its northern portion will appeal to those who value isolated spaces while its southern corner will surely call out to the enthused vacationer who wouldn’t mind the hustle and bustle. Additionally, Karon Beach is where windsurfers apply their trade alongside wakeboarders and parasailers while for a far more reserved yet engaging time, consider snorkelling in the south of Karon Beach where renting equipment will be a breeze.

5

Kata Beach

Serving the interests of surfing fans arriving during the low season and snorkelling enthusiasts calling by the high season, Kata Beach overall, showcases a laidback vibe to get accustomed to. Made up of inviting golden sands to stroll along and unwind on, Kata Beach offers a host of facilities such as beach massage parlours and street vendor stalls where you will be treated to a heavenly time and aromatic snacks which range from tropical fruit to grilled chicken.
