Activities to do to help your Seychelles Weekend - For a weekend like no other!

Seychelles is a magical place!  This archipelago boasts pristine beaches and incredible natural beauty. With over 40 islands to discover, here are some amazing activities to keep you busy during your weekend in Seychelles.

1

Discover prehistoric flora

Vallée de Mai in Praslin island is a UNESCO-listed prehistoric palm forest. This lush forest is the sole location in the islands where you will encounter the six kinds of palm trees growing in Seychelles. The endemic palm, Coco De Mer Palm, has the largest seed in the world. Its leaves are the size of an average human! Also keep your eyes and ears open to encounter colourful tree frogs, the black parrot - one of the rarest birds on the planet and tiger chameleons.

2

Relax at Anse Source d’Argent

This spectacular beach is an Instagram favourite. What makes this beach so famous apart from its natural beauty are its curved, and smooth granite rock boulders framed by coconut trees. The beach has pure white sand, while its shallow waters are made for snorkelling.  However, it has limited facilities and is not cut out for families, but perfect for couples looking for a romantic beachscape. It is located on La Digue, within the ’Union Estate plantation. Also know this beach can get crowded, due to its popularity. If you want the beach for yourself, visit it at the break of dawn or after sunset.

3

Go for a beachside picnic

Anse Georgette is an undeveloped beach. You won't find cafes, sunloungers, cafés and toilets here. You can immerse yourself in its natural beauty while enjoying a picnic you won't forget anytime soon.  However the tide can be rough sometimes, so use your discretion when swimming.

Relaxing sunsets

Anse Lazio is just the place for amazing sunsets and is located in Praslin at its northern tip and one of the best things to do in Praslin. Although it is only a half-mile stretch of white sand, it is the most beloved location for sunsets on the island. Takamaka trees provide a natural canopy to relax and witness nature's light show. Bright hues of orange, pink and purple overtake the beauty of the beach and may leave you breathless. Head there after 6 pm for a sunset you won't forget! If looking for a place to stay, Anantara Maia Seychelles Villas is among the best places in Seychelles.

5

Visit a local tea factory

Tea was introduced to the island during the 1960s and is presently the most consumed beverage after water. The SeyTe tea factory lies in Morne Blanc in Mahe in the Port Glaud District. The factory offers 20-minute guided tours. You will get to see how the whole tea-making process unfolds while tasting samples of tea at different stages of its preparation, and buy what you like at the factory's tea shop.

Discover the capital of Victoria

Considered one of the smallest capital cities in the world, with only a population of 25,000 people. It's very easy to get around and a great place for excursions. Start your day early and visit the Sir Selwyn-Clarke Market. Here you will find a selection of tropical fruit and seafood, while on the upper decks, you can find souvenirs and pareos (sarongs). Afterwards, visit the colonial clock tower, interestingly it didn't work for 96 years! Another place you should visit is the multi-coloured Hindu Sri Navasakthi Vinayagar Temple. Also, The National Museum of History provides an exceptional introduction to Creole culture, for those who want to learn more about the Seychelles. Once it gets hot and humid, visit the Botanical Gardens and sit in the shade of its immaculately manicured gardens.
