With numerous Museums and Galleries showcasing the History and artistic talent of the Gold Coast region it is an enlightening experience to visit these places and they are open to all free of charge, some even provide tours of the museum or gallery.
Gold Coast Historic Museum is one such interesting place, having opened in 1972 at a location believed to have been a gathering point for Aboriginal people many centuries ago. The collection at this museum encapsulates many interesting items like cable station equipment used in 1902, a bikini collection worn during the 1950’s, various artefacts including those used by Aboriginal people, ancient photographs, newspapers of the Goad Coast area etc.
Have a view of the ancient steam engines, machinery and tools used for agriculture and timber industries of yesteryears. The early settlers' cottage and Vincent Sheldon Art Studio are additional attractions. The volunteers at the museum are friendly and will provide additional information if required.
