When you try to install a program, such as Microsoft Plus! for Windows XP or Microsoft Office 2003, in Microsoft Windows XP, you may receive the following error message:
The Microsoft® Windows® Installer (MSI) is the application installation and configuration service for Windows. These download packages will update the version of Windows Installer on your system to version 4.5. Note: There are multiple files available for this download. Once you click on the "Download" button, you will be prompted to select the files you need.
The most common way to repair the Windows Installer in Windows XP is to re-register it. This requires editing the Windows registry, which can damage your computer's operating system. Before beginning the repair, download and install Microsoft's Guided Help from the Microsoft Support site (see Resources).
