In the process of planning a holiday in Yangon with your family? Offering everything from fascinating history, beautiful architecture, mouthwatering cuisine, and plenty of activities to enjoy with your kids, one has much to do in Yangon. Here are some of the top activities to consider doing with your loved ones during your Yangon holiday!

1

Explore the streets of Downtown Yangon

Considered to be the very heart of Yangon, Downtown Yangon is a lovely attraction in itself which still retains its colonial charm from yesteryear. This attraction is also home to a collection of well-preserved colonial heritage buildings waiting to be taken in. Apart from taking in the beautiful architecture of Downtown Yangon, one can wander along the bustling streets checking out its many food stalls and shops selling colourful trinkets and souvenirs. Downtown Yangon can also be easily reached from 5-star hotels in Yangon such as the likes of PARKROYAL Yangon as well.

2

Discover Chinatown

Decidedly diverse, lively, and offering plenty of action, Yangon’s Chinatown is a true cultural and gastronomic hub – and is a must-see attraction during your time there. Don’t forget to visit the historic temples of Guanyin Gumiao and Keng Hovk Keong – both of which happen to be important religious sites in Yangon. Do note that Chinatown is best visited during the evenings – as this is the time when its streets come alive with a cheerful and social atmosphere and bustling markets.

3

Visit Yangon’s National Museum

The museum is home to a large collection of art pieces, sculptures, local artefacts, musical instruments and much more – all waiting to be taken in. During your time there don’t forget to check out the magnificent Lion Throne – used by Burmese royalty which also happened to be the only surviving one of its kind. Yangon’s National Museum is spacious and comes replete with five floors and charges visitors a rather low entry fee.

4

Stroll around Mahabandula Park

Also located in Downtown Yangon, this particular park is a lovely open space surrounded by old colonial buildings such as the city’s High Court and the Yangon City Hall. This spot is great for enjoying a relaxing stroll as dusk falls! Visiting tourists can also check out the many kiosks selling delicious street food here as well.

5
