Some of my favourite dog rescue videos... and a few dog rescue books, too.
Flight-instructor Charleson's well-received Scent of the Missing (2011) drew from the intimacy between search-and-rescue dogs and their owners. This book partly concerns therapy dogs, who comfort the elderly, convalescent, and traumatized. But the main subject is the less-familiar psychiatric-assistance dog, who knows when to respond to his or her owner's subtlest behavior.
This video is a little long and may be boring to some, but I wanted to show an uncut version for people to see how long this process takes, and for it to be used as an educational tool for people working with traumatized dogs.

Nili was dumped in the desert, and just sat there, waiting for her owner. My dear friends, Liraz and Alan saw her as they were driving home from Nevada to California and tried to help her. They spent 6 hours the first day, 6 hours the second day, and then they called me for help.
http://www.hopeforpaws.org - Rocky lived on the streets for a very long time, and when we came today to rescue him, he showed no resistance... it was the easiest rescue in the history of dog rescuing :-) I named him Rocky because his coat and his skin is so damaged, and petting him felt like petting a rock.

The smashing success of Millan's National Geographic Channel series is due partly to that feeling of relief--that no matter how bad your own dog's behavior, by and large, it's not nearly as bad as Millan's clients'; it's kind of like Nanny 911, but with dogs.

http://www.hopeforpaws.org - Rosie was dumped at the desert over a month ago with no food and no water. Temperatures were over 100 degrees, and she was terrified and wouldn't let anyone get near her. I drove 3 hours north to give it a try. This video will tell the full sroty.
The toughest part in this rescue was to actually get past rush hour traffic of Los Angeles :-) Please share this video and help us find these dogs loving homes.
