It was also visited by Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh in 1954 during their visit to Sri Lanka.
With several tea plantations around Nuwara Eliya, one must not miss this chance to experience a tour. Usually 30 to 40-minute duration, the tour will offer fascinating insights into the processes from plucking the tea until it becomes the packed tea you buy off the shelf. Situated within a charming Tudor Mansion with a clock tower, spires and an outstanding red brick exterior, this iconic Post Office was built in 1894. A well-maintained lawn adds much grandeur to this stately building. Created to handle mail for the British Colonials it still functions well. It remains one of the oldest buildings in Nuwara Eliya making this a must-experience location on your trip.
This enchanting waterfall is just outside the town and can be easily reached by a tuk-tuk ride. Once you are dropped off near Pedro Tea Estate ask for the start of the path leading to the waterfall and do the hike which is uphill (not a strenuous one) but more a scenic walk. Once you reach the falls you will be thrilled by its beauty and the surrounding vistas.
