Five Must-Do Experiences for Visitors in Hong Kong – Discover the Best of Hong Kong

Hong Kong is one of those cities that'll leave you in awe, but there's so much more to it than what you see at first glance. Want to uncover the best spots to visit and activities? You’re in for a treat!

1

Star Ferry

Since the 1880s, the Star Ferry has been wowing tourists. Victoria Harbour, where the ferry operates, is always buzzing with activity. The journey from Kowloon to Hong Kong Island, especially from Tsim Sha Tsui to Central, is something else! You get an amazing view of Hong Kong Island's skyscrapers against the backdrop of green mountains. Plus, the cool breeze off the water is refreshing, offering a nice change from the city's hustle and bustle. If you're out in the evening, try to catch the Symphony of Lights show.

2

Hong Kong Skyline

The mesmerising skyline of Hong Kong is something you simply have to see. It's an incredible mix of skyscrapers on both Hong Kong Island and Kowloon, all framed by a bit of greenery and the harbour. It's no wonder it's one of the most iconic skylines in the world. Down in the harbour, you'll see the contrast between traditional elements like junk boats against the modern backdrop of towering high-rises. When night falls, the skyline takes on a whole new vibe as the city lights up, changing the whole look and feel of the place. For the best views of this stunning skyline, head to the top of Victoria Peak or find a spot along the Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade near the clock tower.

3

Victoria Peak

Experiencing Hong Kong's skyline from Victoria Peak, often called The Peak, is an absolute must-do. This is a popular attraction just 25-minutes away from Park Hotel Hong Kong! Hop on the tram to get to this scenic viewpoint, where you'll be greeted with stunning views of skyscrapers, the bustling city, the harbour, and the surrounding islands. Grab a seat on the right-hand side for the best views on your way up. Once you're at the top, there's the Peak Tower and Peak Galleria, filled with shops, restaurants, and an observation deck. If you're into nature, most of The Peak is covered with lush greenery, with numerous nature trails. Also, if you’re staying at one of the Tsim Sha Tsui hotels, you can get here in less than half an hour.

4

Big Buddha

The Big Buddha on Lantau Island is something you can't miss. Towering at 34 metres, this Buddha statue at Po Lin Monastery is one of the biggest of its kind in the world. Up close or from afar, its size is just jaw-dropping. Plus, the setting is amazing – the statue and monastery are surrounded by lush forests with views from the top overlooking the mountains, the ocean and other islands. While you can take a bus, the best way to get here is via the Ngong Ping cable car. This 25-minute ride covers 5.7 kilometres over forests, water, and mountains, offering some stunning scenery. You'll end up at Ngong Ping Village, which is a bit touristy, but you'll pass through it to get to the monastery and Big Buddha. And yes, there's a big staircase leading up to the Buddha, but don't let that intimidate you. The climb is quick, and the views at the top are totally worth it.

5

Repulse Bay

Hong Kong might not be the first place you think of for beaches, but a few beaches like Repulse Bay Beach is a real favourite among locals and offers beautiful views and great swimming spots. It's popular, but not overrun by tourists, which is a nice bonus. Spending a day here feels like you're experiencing the luxury and style that Hong Kong is known for. The street along the oceanfront is buzzing with restaurants and shops. If you're looking for a more laid-back beach day, head over to Big Wave Bay. The water here is gentle, rolling into a large U-shaped cove with a beautiful beach.
