Venturing to the south of Khao Lak, the seaside’s fabled serenity gradually fades away, and the picturesque Nang Thong Beach basks in the glory of being the city’s most popular slice of beach.
A “slice of beach” isn’t the most fitting way to describe these sugary white sands, for the shores extend for an incredible 3 kilometres, spanning enough and more beach to accommodate the droves of longing beach bums that the sands’ wide popularity draws. The scenery is decidedly breathtaking, with a quaint lighthouse and clusters of rock pools adding to a picture-postcard seaside scene. Tropical sun basking rules these sands, while snorkelling is also a favoured pastime. Heading inland away from the coast, authentic experiences abound in the traditional La On Village.
