Five storeys high in the historic quarter of Singapore’s vibrant Chinatown, the Chinese Buddhist temple is renowned for housing one of Buddhism’s most precious relics in the world, a left canine tooth of the Lord Buddha himself. The invaluable tooth is said to have been sourced from Kushinagar, India, following the death of the Buddha, and presently rests in the sanctuary of a majestic 320-kilogram gold stupa deposited on the fourth floor of the five-storey temple. While the sacred tooth relic is the obvious highlight, the temple’s striking style and structure are also worthy of your admiration, which is meticulously designed to resemble the Tang Dynasty architectural style and the Buddhist Mandala.
