Situated near Tangalle Beach, the lagoon is perfect for canoeing and kayaking. The lagoon is surrounded by mangroves and is home to a thriving biodiversity of flora and fauna. Visitors to Rekawa will be able to see endangered turtles like the hawksbill, loggerhead, green turtle, olive ridley, and the rare leatherback. From April to July, visitors will be able to observe the egg-laying process. This generally takes place after 8:30 p.m. late into the night. Volunteers then collect the eggs and carry them to the hatcheries to be safely hatched and then later released into the sea.
