5 Best Places You can Travel with Your Family in Galle - Exploring Galle with the loved ones

Galle, located in the Southern part of Sri Lanka, is undoubtedly a great destination to explore with your family. This destination is kid-friendly, and on the other hand, it has many picturesque locations. Some of these locations are historically significant, while some are religiously valued.

1

The Dutch Fort

The Dutch Fort is also called the Galle Fort. This is one of the most famous historical places in Sri Lanka that belongs to the Dutch colonial era of ancient Ceylon. The Meeran Mosque and the Flag Rock are some of the best places you find here, and every location is equally beautiful. If you want to eat some great food, some artistic eateries are available to entertain you. For you to buy some creative souvenirs to remember Galle, yes- the gift shops are also available.

2

The Light House

Were you looking for that postcard-perfect photo background in Galle? Well, there is no better option for you than the ever-beautiful Galle Lighthouse. Located in the Dutch Fort, this lighthouse can be called the most recognisable element, and its colonial look will amaze you. The history of this landmark goes back to 1848 (the Dutch colonial era). However, the Lighthouse you get to see at present is what was rebuilt in 1939- almost a century later.

The religious places

If you choose to travel to Galle with Walkers Tours, you will not only get to explore the historical sites but the religious sites as well. In addition to the Meeran Mosque, there are also many other religious places which are important to different religious communities. All Saints Anglican Church and the Dutch Reform Church are available here, and as a Buddhist landmark, there is an ancient temple named Sudharmalaya Temple. You don't necessarily need to belong to a particular religion to explore the beauty and cultural side of these religious places, so feel free to admire all these with your kids while respecting their beliefs.

The beaches

Needless to say, Sri Lanka is an island destination filled with many beautiful beaches. Some of the best beaches are of course located in the Southern area, so why not explore them with your kids during your holiday? Unwatuna Beach is a nearby beach, and you may do a lot of activities there. Kids can engage in water activities, while you spend your time freely, looking at the beautiful sunset. Southern beaches are popular among the local crowd as well, so every beach here is sure to be busy and a little chaotic. Do not expect that perfect serenity here.

Galle Fort Cricket Ground

A cricket fan? Well, you have the opportunity to explore an international cricket stadium when you are in Galle. You are extremely lucky if you get to explore this modern stadium when a match is going on, but even if that's not the case, the cricket ground is still beautiful. Believe it or not- this ground is more beautiful than you've seen this on television!
