9 healthy eating tips for busy people – Enrich your life by eating healthy!

When your days become busy healthy eating takes effort and time and you are tempted to sacrifice your good eating habits, however revisiting the way you eat your food can help you ease the pressure on yourself and save time yet make the meals go further.

1

Conscious Eating

It is important to form the habit of conscious or mindful eating and move away from eating whilst you are on the phone, watching a movie or working on your computer. Take that precious 10 to 15-minute break from your work to concentrate on your food and perhaps the company you have. Eating mindfully makes you eat appreciatively and chew your food well rather than gulping it down.

2

Regular day/time for shopping

Setting aside this time in your weekly calendar to re-stock your kitchen with healthy food ensures that there is food at home when you return, and you don’t need to get take-away meals or fast food by looking up burger places near me which may have high content of salt, sugar and most likely saturated fat. If setting aside time each week is not convenient do online ordering and stock up in advance or have a home delivery arrangement with your greengrocer and butcher.

3

Breakfast is Key

Mornings mean you are like a cat on hot bricks doing chores before you leave home. However, a healthy breakfast helps to boost energy, and concentration whilst making healthy food choices over the day. Have a few quick healthy breakfast recipes you can do by getting up 15 minutes earlier such as overnight oats, banana smoothie with light milk etc.

4

Lunch

Instead of making lunch in the morning, do it the night before. Wraps and sandwiches, a green salad with shredded chicken etc. are easy to make and can be packed and kept refrigerated to carry in the morning.

5

Quick meals

With enough quick and healthy recipes available, it is not hard to get a meal done in less than 30 minutes. Rather than start cutting and chopping, use frozen or canned vegetables and meat to prepare food. That is faster for your evening meal. This saves time easing your mind.

6

Hydrate

Keep yourself hydrated during the day. Using water more and other beverages less is healthier. A lot of coffee can boost energy however a lot can also raise your blood pressure and lead to dehydration and reduce the alertness of your brain. When you feel thirsty, reach out for plain water. Have a reusable bottle that can be topped up.

7

Freeze the leftovers

Freeze leftover food which can be used for different means such as leftover lasagna or pasta. In the same manner, extra food such as rice, pasta, and curries can be made over the weekend to save time for cooking during the week portioned and frozen.

8

Snacks

If you tend to get hungry before lunch have pre-packed snacks that you can carry to work. Rather than visiting the vending machine and picking up unhealthy snacks such as chips having chopped fruits like apples, dried fruit with nuts and yoghurt are good choices.

9

Eating Out/Take Away

Sometimes it is necessary to eat out or get takeaway as a special treat with your family, but you can still eat healthily. Use dishes that contain a good balance of greens and protein and are low on fat and starch by ordering from a place like Smashburger.
