Top 5 Night Markets in Bangkok – Shopping & Foodie Adventures When Night Falls!

When the sun sets over bustling Bangkok, the city’s vibrant charm takes on a new allure in the form of its captivating night markets. These lively attractions offer a modern twist on the traditional market experience, showcasing a blend of shopping, culture, entertainment, and culinary delights under starry skies. Read on to find out more about five such markets which provide visitors with a glimpse into the dynamic spirit of Bangkok after dark.

1

Khaosan Road

Known as a popular haunt for backpackers, Khaosan Road is a happening nightlife hub that transforms into a colourful night market after sunset. This legendary street is a hotspot for locals and tourists alike and offers an eclectic mix of trendy fashion, exotic street food, and live entertainment. Wander around the varied stalls, where haggling is an art, and discover all manner of items from distinctive souvenirs, sandals, jewellery and DVDs to quirky accessories, vintage clothing, sunglasses and more.

2

Sukhumvit Street Market

Another popular locale for nightlife, Sukhumvit is also home to a night market for some retail therapy in between bar-hopping escapades! Set amidst the city’s contemporary charm, this open-air night market is amongst the key things to see in Bangkok and can be found along a one-kilometre stretch in the Nana area. Here, you will find clothes, bags, watches, souvenirs and more, all reasonably priced, though don’t shy away from some polite bargaining! This site also offers yummy street food and places to enjoy a drink or two as well.

3

Asiatique The Riverfront

Asiatique The Riverfront combines old-world charm with modern sophistication offering a captivating blend of shopping, dining, and entertainment set along the Chao Phraya River. Easy to reach for those based at properties beside this waterway such as Chatrium Hotel Riverside Bangkok, this expansive night market features over 1,500 boutiques and shops set amidst a replica of a warehouse complex. From local and international fashion to electronics, handicrafts, jewellery and more, this site has it all; adding to its allure are the diverse dining venues, live entertainment, and its dazzling Ferris Wheel!

4

Jodd Fairs Night Market

More retail therapy at night beckons at the Jodd Fairs Night Market in the city’s Rama 9 neighbourhood near the Phra Ram 9 MRT Station. This site has more than 700 stalls so suffice it to say you will be spoilt for choice! While it opens at 4:00pm, head there a bit later when the atmosphere is a bit livelier; since it closes only around midnight, you can slot in a visit in between your other nightlife pursuits. Jewellery, clothing, tech gadgets and more are on offer along with an eclectic array of dishes be it Thai or international favourites, while live music can often be enjoyed here too.

5

The One Ratchada Night Market

The site of the former Ratchada Train Night Market is today, where you will find The One Ratchada Night Market which launched in 2022. This night market is still not on the radar of many tourists yet, making it an ideal place to explore with relatively less crowds. Here, you will find distinctive white tents lined near each other offering a wide range of products and goods, especially in the section near the entrance. The main area is where you will find delectable foodie delights and desserts, while you get an area with open bars too.
