"Television rots your brain." In a similar vein, video games turn your mind to mush, and staring at a screen for too long potentially makes you a zombie. In 1999, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) published a report suggesting that children under two should not have any screen time.

Over the past two weeks, students in Natalie Cannon's Latin 2 classes have been working on a Roman Bath Project. While one might think that being in a 1:1 ultimately dictates that every project will be completed on an iPad, many teachers are opting to design projects that offer differentiation and choice of media and allow students to showcase their creativity.

Greathouse's middle school class has done it again ( check out their first iLesson using Explain Everything)! It is Benjamin Bloom's belief that the entry point to learning is the acquisition of knowledge. He postulates that a solid foundation of terms, facts, theories, and skills is the educational base that will allow the mind to evaluate information effectively and inspire innovation.
By Anya Kamenetz, The Hechinger Report Scarcely a month ago, on August 27, the Los Angeles County Unified School District placed the first iPads in students' hands at the outset of a $1 billion plan to give one to every single student in the nation's second largest public school district ($500 million for devices, plus an additional $500 million for internet infrastructure upgrades, raised through construction bonds).

Last Sunday, I received a note via the contact form on my blog that was a first for me in many ways. It was the first time I had ever been contacted by a parent via my blog, the first time I could not put a comment out of my mind until I had addressed it, and the first time I ever thought about the impact a school's 1:1 take-home technology initiative could have on a family.
Most of the time I focus on integration tips and examples for teachers. Today, I decided to change the pace and share some management tips for the device at home. With a 1:1 iPad initiative in full swing, setting boundaries with the iPad at home can become an issue.
