How to stay healthy during your Air Travel

Every air travel is a fresh experience. No matter how often you fly to different destinations, you may sometimes come across difficulties in breathing and sitting when you travel by plane. Do you consider this an issue? Well, don't! Because these are some very common difficulties most people face. Those who travel for the first time will face these challenges the most, and with time, the severity often reduces. What can you do to stay healthy when you fly? Let's find out!

1

More water

The first and most important tip is to drink a lot of water. If your body is hydrated enough, it can handle situations so well, and this is why drinking more and more water while you fly is important. Yes, you may get that requirement to go to the bathroom often, but consider this an opportunity you get to stretch your legs freely.

2

No alcohol - No coffee

It's a fact that alcohol dehydrates your body. When you are on a plane, the humidity levels are low and the risk of dehydration is anyways available. This general condition can get worse if you intake alcohol as well. Avoid coffee and soda too when you are flying. If you feel stressed when thinking about the high altitude, choose to enjoy a non-caffeinated drink.

3

Breathe well

Once you find your seat and get settled there, take a moment and breathe well. If you feel stressed and nervous, practise some meditation strategies that are known to you. Observe the rhythm of your breath, and then how it changes when altitudes change. Concentrate on this, and nothing else.

4

Be mindful of what you dress

Gone are the days when people used to wear layers and layers of clothes when going abroad. But, did you know that there is a hidden tip behind this practice many think is lame? Generally put, aeroplanes are cold. So, when you have layers of clothes on you, you can remove them suitably. This is a very helpful tip for those who can't afford too cold or too

5

Communicate

When flying, health restrictions and issues can come up and the best thing you could do at such an instance is to communicate it to the cabin crew at the earliest possible. If you have chosen InterCaribbean Airways, you will find a set of super-friendly staff, and they may go the extra mile to help you out if you express your difficulty to them. Don't hide anything. Even when the slightest breathing difficulty or leg pain arises, you may communicate it without any hesitation.

6

Stretch

IN air travel, you will have to stay in a single position for a long time (depending on the travel time). When this happens, leg pains are inevitable. Choose to do some stretching that stimulates the blood circulation in your thighs and back. Well, exercises never go in vain.

7

Take your wet wipes

This is something many travellers miss out on. Take a set of wet wipes when you are flying. Whatever you touch during air travel, it has been touched by thousand people before, so needless to say, germs can exist. Keep a set of wet wipes inside your handbag and choose the wipes whenever necessary.

8

Sleeping safely

The best advice is to sleep near the window. Not only because it's a great experience, but also because you can control the shade and sunlight when you are there. Eat and observe when you are on a plane, but have some rest as well. If you think the sheet will  not be comfortable enough, take a neck pillow with you.
