Dense virgin jungles, towerlike limestones and breathtaking manmade lakes — the sprawling nature reserve of Khao Sok National Park has it all and is, without a doubt, the finest in all of southern Thailand. Besides the lush tropical rainforest and the scores of rivers, waterfalls, lakes and lagoons, the nature reserve is also home to some of the most elusive wildlife, hornbill birds and gibbons, to name a couple. While the national park makes for an incredible trekking adventure, there’s a number of other ways to explore, awaiting the curious adventurer. If an authentic experience is what you are looking for, climb yourself onto an elephant’s back for an elephant-back safari. Those feeling even more adventurous could raft, canoe or kayak your way through the nature reserve in the thrilling waters of Sok River.
