The 5 Most Thrilling Activities in Malaysia - Things to Do to get your heart racing

Looking for an adventure is one way to make the most out of a vacation, especially if you're the type whose soul really lies in getting your pulse up and running. Malaysia is a country that's well suited to that kind of pursuit - from the western peninsula to the island of Borneo, some of the most exciting activities in the world await, such as hiking through forests, rock climbing in extensive formations, water sports and more to fuel your adrenaline rushes.

1

Diving off the coasts

Certain parts of Malaysia have a few world-class diving spots waiting for curious adventurers wanting to take a dip. Islands like Redang and Sipadan are great spots, both for exclusivity and general natural beauty. Hordes of beautiful creatures, like turtles, mantas, and barracuda swim around in places like these, and divers of all skill levels will have a great time here. Make sure that your travel plan aligns though, as places like Redang close up during the monsoon seasons (October-March), for obvious weather reasons.

2

Hiking and Trekking

Behold Mount Kinabalu, Malaysia's tallest mountain. Standing tall at 4095 meters, the mountain is but one of many places you could visit for a solid trek. Along with Mount Kinabalu, you could also make your way toward West Malaysia and visit Mount Tahan, another impressive formation. These adventures can be quite gruelling, so make sure to hire great tour guides and prepare yourself physically for a long adventure to either of these peaks - which usually takes a week to complete.

3

Tandem Paragliding

While you're lounging away in your hotels in Kuala Lumpur City Centre, you may want to consider a few activities that step a little bit into the danger zone - such as tandem paragliding. It may sound daunting at first, but with some smart planning and well-researched programs, you'll be able to find professional instructors who have many qualifications to make your paragliding experience feel as safe as possible. Start your journey at Ranau, where you'll be gliding over views of mountains, villages, and rice paddies, before making your way over to Selangor for more.

4

White Water Rafting

When you want to throw some water adventures into the mix, head over to the likes of Perak and Sabah for some high-octane white-water rafting, with rapids from levels 1 to 3 all over the country. You'll be passing through some jungle terrain when rafting, taking in some views or just losing yourself to the thrill and adrenaline, another great way to witness the wildlife of Malaysia and the bountiful opportunities it grants.

5

Rock Climbing

Although full of places to relax in the city, such as the Travelodge City Centre, Malaysia is one of the best-known places in the world to get your fill of extreme sports. One of the more traditional, even relatively so, is the sport of rock climbing. In Sarawak, lie the Fairy Caves - a scenic site of adventure, full of stalactites and stalagmites and the symmetry of nature. The great thing about this cave system is - it's not reliant on the weather! You can visit and climb to your heart's content at any point of the year you so desire.
