Your Beach Checklist for Koh Samui- Be beach ready for Koh Samui!

The beaches in Koh Samui will be some of the best you will visit in Thailand. So, when getting ready for your beach vacation, know what to pack so you won't end up missing out on the essentials.

1

1. Clothes

Koh Samui is hot and humid, so pack clothes that befit the tropical weather. Comfortable clothes in a lightweight material such as cotton in pale colours are ideal. Pack several cotton t-shirts, shirts, dresses and tank tops for the beach and when out and about. For special evenings and beachside dinners, include a nice evening dress or shirt.

2. Beachwear

Given the number of amazing beaches in Koh Samui, you will be spending a lot of your time outdoors. So, several swimsuits and light cover-ups are essential. A few batik or beach sarongs in bright colours will get you into the tropical mood and look great in photos. Always pack extras of the items that will get wet, so you have a backup, ready and waiting. Also include either a long dress, sarong, cotton trousers or a baggy top if you want to visit the temples near the beaches.

3. Beach items

Your beach checklist for Koh Samui should include a big beach blanket, towels, a good book and some tasty snacks and drinks. If you have kids, don't forget to pack some of their favourite toys or inflatables. Don't forget to take a big bottle of water to keep you hydrated, as the sun can be scorching on most days. If you love to snorkel, bring your gear. Most resorts will offer them to you but at an extra charge, so inquire with them about what is included and what is not. 4. Shoes

Have an extra pair of flip-flops for the beach and to wear indoors. It is most likely one pair will get wet or caked with sand when spending time outdoors. Having a comfortable pair of sandals or sneakers might be a good idea if you want to explore the island or go on a beachside hike.

5. Sun protection

Take adequate sun protection with you as the sun is very harsh in this region. A nice wide-brim beach hat, sunglasses and waterproof sunscreens are important. Ensure the sunscreens are coral-safe to protect the delicate ecosystems when diving etc.

6

6. First aid

A small first aid kit with all the essential medication is an important item to add to your checklist. Include painkillers, cold medicine, mosquito/insect repellent, antiseptic, diarrhoea medication, plasters and any daily prescription medication.

7. Miscellaneous

Pack some laundry bags to collect all your wet clothes if you can't get them dried for some reason. The last thing you'd want is water and sand to ruin your luggage.

Take along some lightweight books you have been meaning to read instead of your laptop and other gadgets.

A reusable water bottle and a small backpack will come in handy when going on beachside hikes in Koh Samui.
