Fushimi Inari pilgrimage circuit

Counted amongst the most renowned features of Kyoto, the greatly venerated Fushimi Inari Shrine, which happens to be devoted to the Shinto deity of rice, Inari. Here you will be able to undertake an engrossing hike commencing behind the principal buildings of the shrine and extending up Mt. Inari’s forested slopes. From the summit, you can experience stunning views over the areas below. Whilst Daigo-ji presents an attractive sight at any time of the year, it is especially resplendent during the seasons of spring and autumn.

Climb Mt. Atago

You will find that it is only possible to ascend the highest mountain in Kyoto, Mt. Atago, on foot. Although you can hike this mountain at any time of the year, only experienced hikers used to winter conditions should undertake the climb. The trail commences at the tranquil Kiyotaki village and then takes you up the side of the mountain. Although the route is clearly marked and not difficult, you will be obliged to climb numerous stairs on the way.

Ascend Mt. Daimonji

Visitors find that the Mt. Daimonji hike is relatively brief and very enjoyable, whilst taking you to a stunning viewpoint from which you can experience lovely views over the city of Kyoto. This hike begins and also ends at the Ginkaku-ji or silver temple including a rather steep ascent to the viewpoint located on the hilltop.
