5 Incredible Auckland Walks You Must Experience – Check out these amazing outdoor spaces!

From amazing native bush to panoramic coastal views, Auckland is blessed with some amazing hiking trails just waiting to be explored. The best part is that these world-class hiking trails are suitable for everyone. Whether you are hiking for relaxation or fitness, here are the top five trails to check out during your time in Auckland.

Karamatura Falls Track

A fantastic option for those just getting into hiking, the lovely and picturesque Karamatura Falls Tracks spans over four kilometres and is quite well maintained – making it a rather easy and pleasant trail to hike along. Those with moderate to excellent fitness levels will be able to complete the trail in approximately one hour. There are also plenty of beautiful spots to enjoy a picnic lunch and take some great photos. If you do get tired, there are some flat rocks at the base of the falls where you can stop to rest and truly immerse yourself in nature.

Karekare Falls Track

If you happen to have kids or pets in tow, the popular Karakare Falls Track will prove ideal. A rather short track, which one can complete in just 10 minutes, it’s a great spot to stop by and stretch your legs if you happen to be driving by.  However, if you are keen to enjoy a longer trek, you will be happy to know that the Karekare Falls Track connects with the Comans Track Loop and the Ahu Ahu Track. At the end of the track, one can enjoy a spot of swimming at the natural pool at Karekare Falls to cool off.

Totara Park

A real favourite among families, Totara Park is vast – and features some stunningly beautiful open spaces. The trails here are easy to traverse, with panoramic scenery to complement – making it the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city for a while. During the trek, one will get the chance to take in over 155 native species of trees and plants along the way. The park also features a tennis court and a lovely swimming pool which one can enjoy to their heart’s content during summertime. One will also be delighted to know that the tracks are dog friendly and have plenty of on-and-off leash areas as well. Totara Park can be reached easily from the best hotels in Auckland the likes of Avani Auckland Metropolis Residences as well.

Auckland Foreshore Heritage Walk

Stretching from Parnell Baths to Point Erin in Herne Bay, the Auckland Foreshore Heritage Walk is especially fabulous to explore on a hot day as you can round off your trek with a refreshing dip! This heritage walk takes over three hours to complete and shows off Auckland’s iconic spots that offer a glimpse of what the city’s original shoreline looked like.

St John’s Path Walk

Located centrally, the Saint John’s Bush Path makes for a fantastic place for a quiet nature walk especially during the height of summer thanks to its incredible tree cover.  Easy to walk, one can complete the trail in under 30 to 40 minutes.
