5 tips for firs time visitors in Maldives

Known to be one of the most fantastic destinations in the world, the Maldives is of course a country that you should visit at least once in your lifetime. If this is going to be your first visit to the Maldives, there are a couple of things that you should know.

1

Plan your tour - so well in advance!

A well-structured plan is important. If you have planned the number of days you are going to spend in the Maldives, plan your hotel, the attractions that you would wish to explore, your transportation means, dresses, and everything. Because everything matters. Keep in your mind that everything in the Maldives will be pricey, but it's worth it! If you wish to stay at one of the Maldives water villas, make sure you book it well in advance too. Don't wait until the last moment.

2

No alcohol in public

Don't forget that the Maldives is a Muslim country. There are restrictions on alcohol consumption in this country, and you should obey them all. If you stay at SAii Lagoon Maldives or any other similar hotel/resort, you can enjoy liquor, but that's also only within their premises. You can't enjoy liquor when you are on an inhabited local island because that's restricted by law.

3

Locality should be explored

The locals of the Maldives spend amazing lives. Their lifestyles are worth exploring and their stories are worth listening to. When you visit a local island, you also get the chance to enjoy the local food and even the traditional music and dance of the Maldives. But, keep in mind, traveling from one island to another when in the Maldives is an expensive task.

4

Modesty is key!

As mentioned before, the Maldives is a Muslim country, and thus, they have strict restrictions on how you behave and dress yourselves. Not all these rules are applicable to travelers from other countries, but it's always good to obey their laws when you are on their land. Avoid wearing shorts and mini skirts when you are in the Maldives, especially when you visit public places and inhabited islands. PDA is not so encouraged in the Maldives, and you better avoid such behaviour too.

5

Maldives is full of surprises!

If you are expecting perfect weather conditions when you are in the Maldives, keep in mind that it's very unlikely to happen (unfortunately). They say the best time to visit the Maldives is from November to April, but even during this time, you can't guarantee that no rain will occur.

6

Do not forget a quality camera

You may think that the purpose of any holiday is to have that peace of mind away from all chaos and sometimes may not be so bothered to take a camera with you. Keep in mind that a camera is a MUST for your Maldivian tour. Take a quality camera with you through which you can capture the moments, and scenic beauty perfectly. Memories matter a lot and do not hesitate to spend on a good camera when you are about to enjoy some of the best days in your life. If you wish to dive or snorkel, make sure you capture the underwater world as well.
