The Ultimate Vacation Itinerary for 7 Days in Mauritius - A stamping ground for holidays and leisure activities

Your Mauritius itinerary should be planned in a way where you can enjoy the best of its culture, resplendent beaches, and natural splendour in a hassle-free manner. A perfect trip to this island would require spending at least seven days. Here's an itinerary for a well-rounded trip.

1

Exploring the South Islands

Dedicate your first day for your much-needed relaxation after jet lag and a day of travelling. Towards evening you can idle along sandy beaches near your accommodation and enjoy a breathtaking sunset view. Commence your second day exploring the South Islands to catch a glimpse of some of the iconic attractions in Mauritius. The perfect way to start it would be to go on an early morning tour of the Troux-Aux-Cerfs, a natural volcano. You will also find a natural pool called Ganga Talao below the volcano. Spare some time to visit the nearby waterfall and Chamarel Seven-Coloured Earth.

2

Grand Bassin

Also known as Ganga Talao, is a beautiful lake located in the district of Savanne (a secluded mountain area). The lake is 600 meters above sea level. Amongst locals, it is popular as a holy lake for Mauritians of the Hindu faith. There is also a belief that the water in this lake communicates with the waters of the holy Ganges of India. As a way of paying homage to Lord Siva, every year the Hindu community takes part in a pilgrimage to this lake. If you are staying at one of the many resorts in Mauritius such as Anantara Iko Mauritius, it is a 36-minute drive to this lake.

3

A day of shopping

You can start another day by dedicating yourself to shopping. In order to make sure you will have the best shopping experience, there are quality markets scattered across the island. The ideal way to go around numerous markets and shopping malls would be to hire a car. There will be plenty of outlets to shop for clothes, souvenirs, and other items to take back home. Those who are on the lookout for jewellery, artefacts and textile items can head over to the Port Louis market.

4

Beach Hopping

It is only a skip, hop and jump away! You will find no better way to enjoy the pristine waters of Mauritius! Soak in the most panoramic views of the island with a beach-hopping experience which will certainly make you awe with its charm. The best time to visit Mauritius to try out this thrilling activity would be between April-June and September-December. The Flic En Flac, one of the longest beaches on the island has numerous adventurous activities such as jet skiing, parasailing, dolphin watching and more. The tranquillity of Belle Mare mostly attracts nature lovers. Due to the availability of luxurious resorts near the beachside, honeymooners opt to unwind on this beautiful beach dotted with Casuarina trees at its coastline.

5

Exciting watersports

While you enjoy some soak-up breathtaking surroundings do not forget to enjoy some of the going-to be- best moments in life. You can try out a range of water sports activities such as jet-skiing, snorkelling, diving, kayaking, canoeing and more. Sea bobbing will add a new level of fun for all water enthusiasts. Cave sea kayaking (a rather easy one) will be an interesting activity to try out with your significant other as it will enable you to discover mysterious caves and islands. You will be sure to leave spellbound with the wonders you witness throughout the journey.
