5 Tourist Places to Visit in Trincomalee - Another angelic town in Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka is blessed with many historic cities, but Trincomalee is one of the bests! it's a coastal peninsula town located in the Eastern province of Sri Lanka, and travelers have much to explore in this city. This city is 265 km from Colombo, but the travel is worth the distance.

1

The Koneswaram Temple

It's one of the most special highlights of this city. Hindus call it the ''Kailasa of the South'' and for them, it's one of the most important places of pilgrimage. Hindus also believe that this is one of the abodes of God Shiva and that's why they have included the Koneswaram Temple among the "Pancha Ishwarams". Since God Shiva is one of the most supreme Gods in Hinduism, the religious and cultural importance that this temple carries is priceless. The temple is located above the bay, so the visitors, once they go there, can enjoy amazing views from all sides.

2

Fort Fedrick

Sri Lanka was once ruled by the Portuguese and Fort Fedrick in Trincomalee can be called a gift by them. This fort has been constructed in the 17th century, and today it's a popular tourist attraction. If you decide to spend your holiday at one of the tourist resorts in Trincomalee the likes of Trinco Blu by Cinnamon, you may explore this attraction also since that will surely add value to your holiday diaries.

3

Uppuveli Beach

Would you love to enjoy some amazing seafood while experiencing the best beach vibes? If so, Uppuveli Beach is the best option for you. Spend one whole day (or even half a day) at this soothing beach, engage in water sports such as water skiing, swimming, and wakeboarding, and have fun to the fullest. The water here is crystal clear, and that makes this beach a picturesque one as well. Back in 2004, this beach was severely hit by the Tsunami disaster, but today it has managed to become a top tourist spot.

4

Pathikarali Amman Temple

The City of Trincomalee indeed is a storybook that depicts the culture and history of Hinduism. Goddess Kali is another important character of worship among Hindus, and this temple is dedicated to her. If you have gone to the Hindu temples in South India, you will note that the architectural style of Pathikarai Amman Temple in Trincomalee is so much similar to that of the South Indian ones. Do not visit this Hindu temple in a rush, because there is so much to see and explore here, including the statues and the paintings.

5

Nilaveli Beach

If you ask 10 Sri Lankans what the most beautiful beach is in the country, Nilaveli in Trincomalee will surely be one of the top answers. Pigeon Island is also located just off the shore here, and it's considered one of the most suited spots for snorkeling. What you will love about this beach is that it's so clean and clear, so although the beach is located a few km from the main city of Trincomalee, you won't mind it. You can visit Fort Fedrick in the same go, as they are located within close vicinity.
