Masirah Island

The island is home to relatively small towns which means you can expect plenty of secluded spots to explore and far less crowd to contend with. Top pastimes to enjoy during your visit include sunbathing on the pristine beaches, snorkelling or possibly even a diving session to check out an abundance of shipwrecks located along the coast. To reach the islands – consult the ferry schedule to get yourself to and from the mainland.

Bahla

Bahla is touted as one of the most incredible destinations in Oman. For centuries the city of Bahla has been the perennial stopping point for those travelling across Oman.  A true oasis in the desert, Bahla is located just 40 km from Nizwa and is home to a spectacular fort. dating back to the early 13th century. Apart from exploring the fort, one can take in the adobe walls of the city which stretch for nearly seven miles in length and shop for beautiful souvenirs and handicrafts that the city is famed for producing.

Wadi Bani Khalid

One of the most visited places in Muscat, Wadi Bani Khalid is a beautiful oasis where tranquil lakes of emerald green are fringed with lush palms. These shimmering pools are the ideal location by which to enjoy a delicious picnic and long lazy swims during the hot heady afternoons when the temperatures can become rather unbearable. Salalah

Located in Southern Oman, Salalah enjoys a particular sense of importance as it is the ancestral home of Sultan Qaboos – the reigning sultan of the country since the year 1970. During your time in Salalah, you will get the chance to admire the magnificent Qaboos Place and immerse yourself in the charm of Old Town  – which is known as Haffa.  After appreciating the older architecture of the old quarter why not step further back in time by visiting the Al Baleed Archaeological site? The best time to visit Salalah is anywhere between June and August – where thanks to the monsoon rain the coastal region of this city transforms itself into a verdant green oasis – complete with seasonal streams and waterfalls.

Sur

Replete with empty beaches, a turtle reserve, and picturesque fishing villages of Al Ayjah, Sur is a destination where the sultry Omani desert meets the sea. If you are keen to learn more about the conservation of turtles, why not consider making book turtle viewing tours anywhere between 9 pm and 5 pm? The peak season to visit Sur is usually between May to September.
