The authors suggest that to improve health equity, the use of health technology, such as electronic health records and data information can be vital in tracking population health outcomes and recognizing the populations at risk of encountering health disparities.
The article delves into the future challenges that can impact the healthcare system as the aging population in Canada continues to rise. It could cause a burden on the health system as there would be an increased requirement for long-term care as chronic illnesses among the old age population would be prevalent. There is also added pressure as there could be fewer healthcare workers working or available to take care of the old-age patients. The article also highlights the possibility of turning this issue into a positive note as the old age population is taken into consideration, this provides an opportunity for the Canadian government to invest in more development of careers in healthcare, modernization of the health industry, and quality improvement.

Patients can utilize their health portal to keep track of their progress in terms of their health, access their personal health information, update their information, and connect with their health provider to make informed decisions about their well-being. Records extracted from EHR can be utilized for research purposes to understand the health patterns of various patient populations, to improve communication approaches with their health providers, to heighten patient satisfaction, and to ensure better health outcomes for patients.
