Odell has received numerous awards and honors for his contributions to the field of computer science, including the ACM SIGSOFT Distinguished Service Award (2004), the James Odell OMG Distinguished Service Award (2008), and the IFIP Outstanding Service Award (2010). He is a fellow of the ACM and a senior member of the IEEE.
