The Chapter Board and membership of the Gulf Coast Human Resource Association (GCHRA) did an amazing job of recruiting great speakers, providing a great meal, and - to make it even better - lunch was fantastic! Adding the opportunity to network with other HR professionals made this an event that was time and money well spent.
South Mississippi SHRM is taking the chapter’s social media efforts to the next level and I’m happy to be a part of the experience. South Mississippi SHRM is a chapter affiliate of Mississippi SHRM and the Society for Human Resource Management serving Human Resource members in the Mississippi Pine Belt.
I received notice today of an upcoming HR event on the Gulf Coast and would like to share it with anyone who reads this blog. The event is hosted by my friends with the Gulf Coast Human Resource Association. So, without further delay . . .
It may only be a few months since the 18th Annual Mississippi SHRM Human Resource Conference & Expo but it's never too soon to save the date for 2014. The Mississippi State Council of SHRM hosts an annual conference and expo each spring in various locations across Mississippi.
I've been quiet on social media this week. Actually, I've been quiet in general because I had too much to do in too short a timeframe. But I wouldn't take it back for anything. This week I met nine people who I hope I positively affected in some small way.
What's a great way to start a Friday morning? For me, it started off great when I saw an email from Cynthia Thompson with a subject line that read: 2013 MS SHRM Conference Special Digital Issue! No coffee needed (still had - just not needed) to wake up my brain and get the arterial flow going strong.
It was seventeen years ago today that I began my employment with a company in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. This company, going by the name Cellular One then, saw me grow from the young inexperienced young adult I was then into the still-learning person I am today. I recall my interview vividly.
I commend anyone who achieves accreditation for a professional and/or academic standard. It involves a commitment of resources ranging from time, money and personal dedication. Obtaining the Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or the Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) is a coveted distinction for most of us who work in the HR profession.
It takes just a small amount of dream to realize the power of HR. Judy Nail has done that and continues to be a driving force for MSSHRM (Mississippi SHRM). The following video celebrates her dual-award winning week! Judy Nail has served as a volunteer with the Mississippi Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) since 1999.
Mississippi SHRM names two deserving HR professionals as either the Mississippi Human Resource Professional of the Year or the Mississippi Spirit of HR. It was my pleasure, as the 2012 recipient, to name my Mississippi SHRM colleague as the new Mississippi Spirit of HR recipient for 2013.
This video was taken at the Mississippi SHRM conference yesterday and is followed-up by a compilation of Jan Farve's One Moment in Time during the 2012 SHRM Leadership Conference when her program, Skillz Drillz, won a Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) Pinnacle Award.
I've heard that a simple, random act of kindness can go a long way. When I first heard it was, most likely, when I was a child; however, this week I was reminded of the powerful impact on those who are the recipients of those acts.
The wait is over. The time has come. It is time to pack our bags for the 18th Annual Mississippi Human Resource Conference & Expo at the Beau Rivage in Biloxi, MS from April 29 - May 02, 2013.
I read an article in 2008 about the anticipated "death of blogging" and its demise by 2009-2010. Blogs were to become a thing of the past replaced by the powerhouse Myspace.com and others like it. It's now 2013 and social media didn't destroy the art of blogging....it made it stronger.
The Mississippi State Council of SHRM will offer a two-day program prior to the 18th Annual Mississippi Human Resources Conference & Expo. Participation in this program is Pre-Approved for HRCI Recertification credit valued at 13.0 (General) hours!
