A general way to be safe whilst going out at night would be to stay in numbers and always remain with your group. Should you have to walk home at the conclusion of an evening out, it would always be recommendable to remain in well-illuminated areas with numerous people whenever possible. As you might expect, crimes would be far less likely to be committed in places where there is adequate lighting, with bystanders and CCTV to observe what is going on. Additionally, you should always take a clear route when returning home, avoiding canals, dark alleys and unlit areas.
