Nasi Lemak

This delicious meal is considered the unofficial national dish of Malaysia. Rice cooked in coconut milk is accompanied by vegetables, roasted peanuts, well-spiced meat curry and sambal (a chilli-based sauce) which is topped off with a hard-boiled egg. Served on banana leaves this emanates an inviting aroma enjoyed by visitors at many best restaurants in Langkawi.

Roti Canai

Meat Rendang

Mostly made using beef, chicken or lamb, the meat is stir-fried initially and mixed with an assortment of herbs and spices such as lemongrass, lime leaves, meat stock, tamarind juice, ginger, golden castor sugar etc and cooked well adding coconut milk nearing the completion of cooking. This dish of meat can be an accompaniment to rice or noodles as a main dish.

Mee Goreng Mamak

A complete meal of yellow noodles, tender beef or chicken, shrimp, finely chopped veggies and egg stir-fried to a tantalizing aroma adding a bit of chilli for a spicy kick.

 Apam Balik

A popular sweet snack at Langkawi night markets, these are also called turnover pancakes. Made as a thin pancake then filled with sugary ground peanuts with a dollop of canned sweet corn and folded over ready to be enjoyed. They come in two sizes, family size and individual size.

Ayam Percik (Chicken with Percik sauce)

Medium or large cuts of chicken are heavily marinated in a well-spiced mix of chilli, garlic, ginger, thick coconut milk and the right amount of Percik sauce kept to stand for some hours and barbecued to perfection. This can be eaten by itself or with a salad or any other side dish.

 Laksa

A spicy noodle soup found all over Langkawi comes with many variations. It comes with fish, prawns and even vegetables and tamarind in it giving a spicy-sour kick.
