Top Sightseeing Places in Wan Chai-  Wan Chai at its best!

Wan Chai is among the most vibrant neighbourhoods in Hong Kong Island with a heady mixture of the old and new. Take a look at some of the interesting things for you to see and do.

1

Visit the Blue House

The famous blue-coloured four-storey house is a favourite haunt for photograph hunters. It’s one of the few remaining “tong lau” types of buildings with a balcony in Hong Kong and is classified as a Category 1 construction. Also, don't forget the Hong Kong House of Stories while there. It is on the floor level and has a captivating museum spotlighting Hong Kong’s beginnings and culture.

2

Wan Chai Street Market

Locals call the place Toy Street, and aptly so, as it's the best area to go shopping for the latest fads and technical stuff. There are other interesting things too, like trinkets, souvenirs, and fresh produce. If you are not in the mood for shopping, go to one of the neighbourhood diners lined up along the market streets. You can find a fantastic selection of authentic Chinese eats to feast on. You can find a range of Hong Kong hotel offers like those found at Dorsett Wanchai Hong Kong.

3

Pak Tai Temple

The temple is on Lung Street, following the Blue House Cluster. It was constructed by the locals in 1863, while the site is classified as a Grade I historically significant structure. It also happens to be one of the biggest temples on Hong Kong Island.

4

Victoria Harbour

1.9 km from Wan Chai is Victoria Harbour, which is a natural harbour dividing Hong Kong Island from Kowloon in the south and the mainland from the north. Its depth and remoteness make it a strategic location in the South China Sea and for the development of Hong Kong as a trading port. Located in the heart of the urban area, it is a site where many visitors gather. Annual fireworks take place overlooking the harbour, while its boardwalks are gathering spots for residents and tourists. The harbour has beautiful scenery and a lively atmosphere. You can sit back and relax, watching the lights, boats and people.

5

Causeway Bay

Causeway Bay is located in downtown Wan Chai. A very commercial area in Hong Kong Island, it includes parts of Wan Chai District. Filled with top shopping, restaurants, Hong Kong’s major public library, and the territory's biggest public park. While there, visit SOGO, the biggest Japanese-style department store, and also look out for Fashion Walk, a store featuring regional designers. Apart from clothes, you can shop for other items like household goods and electronic gadgets.

6

Victoria peak

Reaching 552 m, it is the highest elevation point on Hong Kong Island, while its summit gives off incredible views overlooking Hong Kong. There are walking trails near the peak offering terrific lookout points of Victoria Harbour and the skyline. You can reach the peak via bus or cable car. The peak will also have shops and cafes, and visiting at dusk will be simply spectacular. You will find no finer location to gaze at central Hong Kong than from here!
