7 Best cocktail bars in Singapore – intoxicating escapes

Tourism is booming in Singapore post-COBID, and who doesn't want to celebrate with a cocktail? We all love a good tipple, socializing and exotic ingredient matching. Cocktail bars deliver all these ingredients without reservation (in a figurative sense). Let's take a look at Singapore's best cocktail bars.

1

Portman's Bar in Marina Bay

Let's take a look at the first in our list of best cocktail bars in Singapore. This one is named after the architect, John Port who designed the hotel - PARKROYAL COLLECTION Marina Bay, Singapore. The bar's resident mixologist spins myriads of refreshing cocktails featuring the 'farm-to-bar' fresh herbs and edible plants. They use over 90 labels of top-quality whiskies and spirits to blend some classic and out-of-this-world cocktails. Their afternoon tea infused with herbs and vegetables from the garden is a delectable treat for a picnic as well.

2

Appetite in Amoy Street

Designed to feed the senses, Appetite offers cocktails from Goriška Brda, Slovenia as well as Jalisco, Mexico. There is art on the walls and records from the 70s and 80s for a sense of nostalgia. You can listen to some tunes and sink into an intoxicating bliss. Remember to try a plum Negroni made with plum kernel-based distillate. The Not a Bloody Mary contains Widges gin, and some bittersweet tamarillo while yuzu kosho adds a bit of zest.

3

Smoke and Mirrors at the National Gallery

Housed in the National Gallery of Singapore, this bar comes with awesome views. A great point to watch fireworks, the bar offers a riot of a drinks menu featuring thematic elements. Order the Monochrome made with Malt whisky, burnt bread and cream and some Amaro Montenegro. The Man from Manila is another crowd-pleaser with bourbon, exotic pineapple, liqueur and some Lillet Blanc. The Magic Queen contains Remy Martin 1738 Cognac, Vermouth, Campari and a dash of coconut oil and saline. The mixologists present the cocktails with theatrical flair.

4

3 of Cups in Haji Lane

How would you like to combine magic and cocktails? This taro-themed bar is a whimsical delight with a capacity for 40 cocktail lovers. You can order your tarot-themed cocktail off the menu or try the more fun way of letting fate decide your drink. Pick a tarot and drink the matching cocktail. For every three drinks per table, you get a free tarot reading.

5

PILCROW in Boat Quay

PULCROW is all about sophistication. They pair desserts with cocktails for the sweet-toothed cocktail lovers. If your partner prefers savoury dishes – they've got you covered. Try the Butterfly Tonic – a twist on the classic gin and tonic with butterfly pea flowers, lavender and of course your tonic. Pair your Butterfly Tonic with a coconut mousse and fresh mangoes served alongside lime sorbet. The Pit of the Plum is perfect to wash down the tartness of the sorbet.

6

Nemesis in Duxton Hill

Nemesis is a quirky bar with a penchant for all things Spanish. You can have your vegetables and fruit portion of the day in cocktails at the Nemesis. The Sunset Drip is a gin-infused sundowner. The Iaso hits all the right spots with fennel, orange, honey and apple in the drink. The earthy hints of herbs balance out the sweetness of the fruit.

7

The Store on Neil Road

The Store is dedicated to giving you a Baader-Meinhof experience. The bar is complete with high tables and stools from which you can watch the mixologist pour your drink. Try the Coffee Kombucha Espresso Martini – it is as thrilling as it sounds. The Notanegroni packs more intense flavours.
