Marquees are the ideal way to create a purpose built event space for your guests. As you probably don't regularly hire a marquee, when it comes to making the correct choice for your wedding marquee or event it's important you find out what type and style of marquees are there? And, which style is best for you?
To help with these questions are we've listed the different types of marquees, temporary structures and tents that are perfect for wedding marquees.
Sailcloth tents, sailcloth marquees, or Sperry Tents are very similar to the traditional marquee but with an updated modern look. They have recently become more popular due to having transparent sidewalls and a wooden structure. Due to the fantastic lighting conditions, they are adored by brides, photographers and couples alike.
If you’re hosting a festival-themed wedding or event then tipis are a great choice. The Giant Tipi or Teepee (Stratus 72) is the star of the Tipi event industry consisting of a natural wooden structure with a canvas covering and it’s these aesthetics, along with their customisable and linkable nature, that makes them an attractive alternative type of structure. If not a Tipi wedding, we also offer Tipi hire for Tipi parties, festivals, and even corporate events.
Stretch tents or stretch marquees use a unique fabric that is stretchy and also provides structural stability. Stretch tents come in a range of sizes and can be installed in unusual spaces with a range of different configurations and colours. The fabric is anchored in different places and then metal or wooden poles of different lengths are pushed up to create the iconic stretch tent shapes.
Frame marquees are made of semi-rigid frames that provide structural stability and are most commonly made from a synthetic fabric. Frames are usually made of aluminium.
The solid frame found with this type of marquee affords you a wider choice of accessories. Doors, windows, rigid side panels and sophisticated flooring systems can all be installed as a result. If you want a marquee but don’t want your guests to feel like they’re in a marquee then this is the choice for you.
Some people describe a Saddlespan tent or Capri marquee as looking like a pringle crisp. Made from tensioned PVC and supported by architectural aluminium trussing, these unusual-looking tents can be used as a large marquee, stage cover, audience shelter or exhibition venue.
