It is less than an hour from the airport and boasts some of the finest beach hotels on the island. Places like Amagi Beach give you easy access to the beach as well as one of the best restaurants in Marawila, a suburb of Negombo renowned for its fresh seafood, especially prawns and crab. One of the easiest spots to enjoy the best island vibes in Sri Lanka, Negombo is famous for scuba diving, snorkelling and daredevil riding in traditional wooden canoes used by the local fishermen. There is plenty to explore in Negombo apart from the beach, such as colonial sites, cathedrals, and the lagoon.
